The Trim Room Assistant Manager supports the Trim Crew Manager in overseeing daily operations of the cannabis trimming and processing team. This role ensures compliance, efficiency, and quality in all aspects of trimming, packaging, and inventory management. The Assistant Manager is responsible for workflow optimization, maintaining equipment, managing data tracking, and training staff while adhering to strict regulatory standards.

Pay - $20.00/ hour

Schedule - Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Key Responsibilities:

    Trim Room Operations

    • Prepare the trim room daily, ensuring all equipment, tools, and materials (e.g., scissors, gloves, bins) are sanitized and ready for use.
    • Organize workstations to optimize workflow and ensure trimmers have access to necessary tools and materials.
    • Follow and enforce SOPs for cleaning and sanitizing the trim room and equipment before and after sessions.
    • Maintain a hygienic and organized workspace to prevent contamination.

    Crew Management & Workflow Optimization

    • Assist in coordinating daily tasks for the trimming crew, ensuring adherence to SOPs and performance expectations.
    • Implement and oversee “buck and trim” systems to streamline production cycles.
    • Monitor productivity by grouping similar strains, reducing setup times, and promoting efficient workflows.
    • Trim alongside staff to model proper techniques and reinforce good habits.
    • Manage breaks, promote ergonomic practices, and help trimmers improve speed and efficiency.

    Inventory & Reporting

    • Track all trimmed cannabis and maintain detailed inventory records per SOP guidelines.
    • Collaborate with the Inventory Manager to ensure accurate data entry into METRC for harvest batches, including weights, strains, and waste logs.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits to verify the accuracy of trim crew counts against METRC records.
    • Maintain timely and accurate reporting of trim waste and log all plant waste into METRC.

    Compliance & Safety

    • Ensure all trim room activities adhere to cannabis industry regulations and company policies.
    • Implement waste management procedures, ensuring proper documentation and disposal of plant waste per compliance standards.
    • Accurately complete and submit METRC waste entries, linking waste to the correct harvest batches.
    • Track and organize test sample data for reduced testing allowances and process validation.
    • Manage the recall program by pulling necessary packaging information in the event of a recall.

    Equipment Maintenance

    • Inspect and clean all trim-related equipment (e.g., bucking machines, scissors, sorting tables) according to SOPs.
    • Schedule and perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and performance.
    • Maintain detailed records of equipment inspections and report repair needs to management promptly.
    • Operate and maintain joint-rolling equipment and ensure consistent product quality.

    Quality Control

    • Monitor trimming standards for uniformity, quality, and consistency with company specifications.
    • Conduct regular product inspections to ensure quality benchmarks are met, addressing any issues immediately.
    • Provide feedback to cultivation, packaging, and inventory teams on product quality and yield data.

    Packaging and Pre-Roll Preparation

    • Ensure compliance with SOPs for the packaging area and pre-roll preparation zones.
    • Maintain an organized and clean environment for packaging and pre-roll rolling tasks.
    • Oversee proper labeling and organization of pre-rolls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

    Transfers and Testing

    • Create and manage outgoing transfer manifests for shipments to other licensed facilities.
    • Receive and verify product transfers from other licensed facilities, ensuring accurate documentation.
    • Send out test samples for bulk flower and re-rolls, tracking all data related to testing and process validation.

    Scheduling & Reporting

    • Schedule and organize trim crew shifts based on production demands, ensuring adequate staffing.
    • Document attendance and address staff tardiness or absenteeism with detailed reports.
    • Submit weekly and monthly reports to management, including productivity metrics, waste logs, and operational insights.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of cannabis trimming or related experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role preferred. Previous experience with cannabis inventory systems such as METRC.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Sheets, Google Forms, and other inventory management tools. Familiarity with cannabis regulatory compliance and tracking systems.
  • Knowledge & Abilities: Strong understanding of cannabis trimming and packaging standards. Excellent organizational skills to manage workflows and meet production goals. Detailed knowledge of compliance requirements, including METRC and local regulations.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication skills to train and manage a diverse team. Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and address quality or operational challenges.
